Main Purpose
To provide proactive outreach and support to people sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness, helping them access accommodation, housing, health and support services.
Typical Day
- Carry out outreach sessions across Waltham Forest.
- Engage with people sleeping rough and build trusting relationships.
- Assess housing, welfare and support needs.
- Provide advice, referrals and practical support.
- Help individuals access temporary, supported or independent accommodation.
- Provide tenancy sustainment and move-on support.
- Respond to reports of rough sleeping and safeguarding concerns.
- Work with Council teams and partner agencies.
Key Skills
- Homelessness and rough sleeping experience.
- Strong communication and engagement skills.
- Experience supporting vulnerable people with complex needs.
- Knowledge of housing and homelessness services.
- Trauma-informed and person-centered approach.
- Good case management and partnership-working skills.
