PAYE Pay Rate: £32.08 per hour

Main Purpose

To provide senior legal advice and support within the Commercial and Contracts team, advising on contractual and commercial matters and ensuring that the Council’s interests are protected and legal requirements are met.

Typical Day

  • Providing legal advice on complex commercial and contractual matters.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and legal agreements.
  • Advising internal Council departments and senior stakeholders.
  • Identifying and managing contractual and legal risks.
  • Supporting procurement and commercial projects.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Legal Services and the wider Council.
  • Ensuring advice is clear, practical and aligned with Council requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor/barrister or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Strong experience in commercial and contract law.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Experience providing legal advice within a public-sector/local-authority environment would be highly relevant.
  • Ability to provide clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
