Work pattern: 2 days remote, 3 days in the office.
PAYE Pay Rate: £220.05 per day
Main Purpose of the Role
To support the Counter Fraud and Trading Standards Manager in leading and managing the Trading Standards service, ensuring statutory duties are delivered professionally, proportionately and in line with legislation.
The role will lead complex investigations, provide technical guidance to officers and act as the Council’s Lead Officer for Weights and Measures.
Typical Day
- Lead and support a team of Trading Standards officers.
- Allocate workloads and monitor performance.
- Manage complex investigations and enforcement cases.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to officers, businesses and partners.
- Lead on Weights and Measures responsibilities.
- Triage complaints and referrals according to priority.
- Ensure investigations are intelligence-led and evidence-based.
- Liaise with Councillors, partner agencies and Trading Standards bodies.
- Monitor case quality, compliance and enforcement outcomes.
- Support staff development and continuous improvement.

- Significant Trading Standards experience.

- Weights and Measures experience/qualification.
- Experience working with partner agencies and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and casework effectively.
