Work pattern: 3 days per week in the office, Monday’s and two other days.

PAYE Pay Rate: £25.96 per hour

Main Purpose:
To provide high-level administrative and strategic support to an Executive Director, ensuring they are well organised, briefed and supported in delivering Directorate priorities. The role also manages two Executive Support Officers.

Typical Day

  • Manage the Executive Director’s diary, meetings and forward planning.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, communications and presentations.
  • Research complex issues and provide concise briefings.
  • Coordinate Directorate and cross-Council activities.
  • Track actions, committee reports and key deadlines.
  • Handle Councillor enquiries, FOIs, complaints and casework.
  • Attend meetings, take notes and follow up actions.
  • Manage and support two Executive Support Officers.
  • Liaise with senior officers, Councillors, MPs and external partners.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience providing senior/executive-level support within a complex organisation.
  • Experience working with Directors, senior managers and Elected Members.
  • Strong experience preparing reports, briefings and correspondence.
  • Experience managing staff and coordinating workloads.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and tight deadlines.Experience with FOIs, complaints, Members’ enquiries or corporate casework is desirable.
  • Local government/public-sector experience would be highly relevant.
