Work Pattern: 36 hours per week (Mon - Fri)
PAYE Pay Rate: £24.50 per hour
Main Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality planned and reactive maintenance across Camden Council properties, with a focus on commercial plumbing, heating and mechanical building services. The role involves fault-finding, repairs, minor installations and supporting the development of a plumbing apprentice.
Typical Day
A typical day will involve travelling between Camden properties in a work van, completing PPM and reactive maintenance tasks, diagnosing faults, repairing plumbing and mechanical systems, updating jobs through a CAFM/mobile system and working alongside and mentoring a plumbing apprentice.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
- Fault-find and repair heating, hot and cold-water systems and mechanical plant.
- Maintain pumps, calorifiers, valves, pressurisation units and expansion vessels.
- Complete minor installation and remedial works.
- Carry out TMV servicing and support water hygiene activities.
- Record work, materials and findings accurately using CAFM/mobile technology.
- Complete risk assessments and follow health & safety procedures.
- Manage an allocated workload and prioritise reactive and planned jobs.
- Communicate professionally with building users, contractors and colleagues.
- Mentor and support a plumbing apprentice.
- Maintain the work vehicle, tools and equipment.
Key Skills
- Strong commercial plumbing and mechanical maintenance experience.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of heating and water systems.
- Ability to work independently across occupied buildings.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to use mobile devices and CAFM systems.
- Basic electrical fault-finding awareness.
- Strong health & safety awareness.
- Ability and willingness to mentor an apprentice.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalentin Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
- Substantial experience incommercial plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
- Experience with heating systems, pumps, calor
