The predicted salary is between 18900 - 23100 £ per year.
Scrubbing of internal and external hard floors, walkways and other areas as might be directed. Wall wash, high cleaning of walls, associated furniture, fixtures, fittings and internal window cleaning. Collection and removal of bulk/bagged refuse from all areas on the estate. Emptying of external litterbins and rotation of paladin refuse stores. Litter picking/leaf clearing/snow clearing. Cleaning of major spillage, soilage and other deposits.
To attend training sessions organised by supervisory staff, to use new equipment after training and to carry out new methods or procedures as and when directed. To follow all procedures relevant to maintaining the security of Council property as directed. To clean, maintain and store all cleaning equipment and materials as directed and to report all defective equipment and materials to the Supervisor. To note when cleaning materials and other supplies are required and to order or request that an order be placed for the necessary materials and supplies with the Supervisor. To be responsible for the security of all cleaning equipment and materials under the employee's control.
Carry out all duties with due regard to: Health and Safety at Work Act, The Council’s Equality and Diversity Policy.
Reporting to Southwark Cleaning Supervisor and/or Team Leader.
Organisational Objectives: Contribute to the Department’s development and implementation of the Council’s corporate objectives including: Health & Safety in the workplace, Performance Management and Investors in People, Equal Opportunities and Managing Diversity, Customer Care Policy, Quality Initiatives.
Contacts: Contact will be at an operational level and will include: Members of the public, Council officers of the E & H department and council wide, External bodies such as Keep Britain Tidy, Capital Standards.
Grade/Conditions of Service: Grade: 2, Contractual hours: 36 hours, Monday to Saturday.
Person Specification: Knowledge, including educational qualifications: An understanding of, and commitment to, the Council’s Equality and Diversity Policies in connection with employment and service provision. A minimum of 2 years experience of working in a cleaning, grounds maintenance, waste management or related work environment.
Aptitudes, Skills & Competencies: Ability to carry out all aspects of estate cleaning and street cleansing as directed. Ability to work without close and frequent supervision. Ability to complete safety checks on all tools, materials and equipment used to undertake duties. Ability to prioritise work to ensure service delivery is maintained. Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to ongoing changes. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as provided.
Special Conditions of Recruitment: There will be a requirement to work outside normal working hours.
