Job Purpose
To provide a high standard of cleaning services across school premises, ensuring all internal areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and hygienic condition for pupils, staff, and visitors. The post holder will be responsible for cleaning allocated areas of the school, following agreed cleaning schedules and health and safety procedures.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean designated internal areas of the school, including classrooms, corridors, toilets, offices, staff rooms, halls, sports areas, changing rooms, and communal areas.
- Carry out daily cleaning tasks in allocated areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Sanitise toilet facilities, including toilets, sinks, flooring, soap dispensers, hand dryers, cubicles, and pipework.
- Perform general cleaning duties including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, cleaning skirting boards, window cills, shelves, desks, and other hard furnishings.
- Clean and sanitise sports areas and changing rooms, including shower areas and cubicles.
- Clean staff room facilities, including sinks, work surfaces, floors, and furnishings.
- Empty waste bins throughout the building and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Use cleaning equipment safely, including scrubber dryer machines where provided.
- Follow COSHH, infection control, and health and safety procedures at all times.
- Report any cleaning issues, damaged equipment, or maintenance concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Attend relevant training and development sessions as required.
Skills and Experience
- Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
- Ability to work independently and manage allocated cleaning areas effectively.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining hygiene standards.
- Ability to follow cleaning schedules, instructions, and health and safety procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a school cleaning team.
