Lewisham Council is seeking experienced and motivated Environmental Health Officers to join our Food Safety team. You will play a key role in protecting public health by delivering a programme of proactive and reactive food hygiene inspections, primarily in Category C/D and unrated premises. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety and wellbeing of our diverse community, working within a supportive and professional team.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct food hygiene inspections in line with the Food Law Code of Practice.
- Provide expert advice and education to businesses and residents.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections.
- At least 2 years of recent experience in a UK local authority conducting food hygiene inspections.
- EHRB registration (or equivalent).
- Demonstrated competency under the Food Law Code of Practice.
- A minimum of 20 hours CPD over the past 2 years.
- You must be qualified to carry out food standards inspections.
- You will be confident working independently, making critical decisions, and managing a varied caseload.
- Strong communication and enforcement skills are essential.
