Job Purpose: To assist in the maintenance of the housing department's Sheltered/Communal landscaped areas and to assist with the Housing department's GMS service through the summer months.
Working in all climatic conditions, you will be working alongside and supporting the Borough's core team of skilled and semi-skilled gardeners across the whole of the Borough maintaining flower beds, shrub beds, hedges, and grass areas.
The use of mechanical equipment such as mowers, hedge cutters, strimmers, blowers, and pedestrian mowers on a regular basis should be expected. Bending, lifting, carrying, weeding, walking, and general manual labour are all a part of this role.
We are a fully mobile landscaping service; subsequently, all candidates must have a full, current U.K. driving licence that covers a manual gearbox. You must be willing to operate light goods vehicles such as Transit tipper vans etc. PA1/PA6 weed control licence an advantage but not necessary.
Successful candidates will be representing Swindon Borough Council and subsequently will be expected to act in accordance with the Borough's employee policy.
Note: If climatic conditions occur such as drought etc. where our workload is reduced, the borough reserves the right to cancel contracts accordingly.
