Street Cleaning Operative

Location: Eastcroft Depot, Nottingham
Contract: 1 year
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Street Cleaning Operative to join the environmental services team in Nottingham.

You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of streets, pathways and public areas across designated locations. This is a hands-on, outdoor role requiring someone who is comfortable working as part of a team and carrying out physical duties throughout the working day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out litter picking and general street cleansing activities across designated areas.
  • Use litter-picking barrows and associated equipment safely and effectively.
  • Remove weeds, detritus, litter and other environmental waste from streets, pathways and public spaces.
  • Clean around street furniture, including benches, signs and other public assets.
  • Empty, clean and maintain street litter bins to the required standards.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team to maintain clean and safe public spaces.
  • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness, appearance and overall presentation of Nottingham's streets and communities.

About You

The successful candidate will be:

  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of carrying out manual and active duties throughout the day.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Comfortable using basic equipment and following instructions.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and public spaces.
  • Able to follow health and safety procedures at all times.

Previous experience in street cleansing, environmental services, waste collection, cleaning, grounds maintenance or another outdoor manual role would be beneficial, although relevant transferable experience will also be considered.

Induction

All successful candidates will be required to attend an induction before starting the role.

First induction date: 26 October 2026.
