Role Purpose
To provide effective and responsive financial management and business partnering services to budget holders across the NCHA Group, supporting informed decision‑making, achievement of business objectives, and compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and present accurate, timely monthly management reports, highlighting performance against budget, explaining variances, and supporting reliable forecasting.
- Hold monthly or quarterly meetings with budget holders and senior managers to review financial performance, discuss key variances, and update full‑year projections.
- Coordinate and lead the annual budgeting process, facilitating planning meetings, challenging assumptions, and ensuring budgets are realistic and aligned with business objectives.
- Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts by producing accurate notes and working papers in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide comprehensive support for the annual external audit process, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and auditor requests are addressed promptly.
- Provide financial analysis and input into business cases, validating assumptions, reviewing calculations, and ensuring financial estimates are robust and accurate.
- Promote compliance with financial regulations, policies, and procedures, identifying and reporting areas of non‑compliance where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial management processes, reporting quality, and business partnering services.
- Contribute to business transformation initiatives that deliver improved value for money and enhanced financial insight.
- Ensure financial regulatory returns are completed accurately and submitted on time in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Manage financial inputs into service charge budgets and support the preparation and certification of leaseholder accounts.
- Provide information and analysis for Executive Team, Committee, and Board reports as required.
- Represent the organisation at external meetings when required.
Leadership and Team Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Finance Manager – Business Partnerships and provide cover across senior management accountant roles when required.
- Support resource planning, team development, and effective change management.
- Inform the Finance Manager of issues affecting team operations.
- Develop and support finance team colleagues through recruitment, induction, training, and performance management.
- Foster an inclusive culture aligned with organisational values and promote high standards of service delivery.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- CCAB qualified or qualified through substantial experience in similar roles over a sustained period.
- Strong experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, statutory accounts preparation, and audit support.
- Demonstrable expertise in financial analysis and business partnering.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience building relationships across all organisational levels.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience of driving continuous improvement and managing change effectively.
- Experience of motivating, developing, and supporting colleagues.
