Work Pattern: 37 hours a week, 8:30 am till 5 pm
PAYE Pay Rate: Β£300 per day
Main Purpose
To provide quantity surveying and commercial support across assigned construction projects, managing costs, contracts, procurement, risk and financial performance.
Key Duties
- Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
- Monitor financial performance and prepare cost and value reports.
- Manage interim and final accounts and payment assessments.
- Assess and negotiate compensation events, variations and claims.
- Support procurement and manage subcontractors and suppliers.
- Administer contracts and subcontract agreements.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and changes.
- Provide advice on contractual matters and prepare correspondence.
- Support dispute resolution and conflict management.
- Analyse tenders, budgets, Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates.
- Monitor labour, materials, plant and subcontractor costs.
- Assess delays, disruption and extension of time claims.
- Ensure commercial processes comply with company policies, governance and legal requirements.
- Work closely with project managers, designers, contractors, finance, legal and other teams.
- Support continuous improvement and value for money.
- Maintain accurate records and meet reporting deadlines.
- Follow health and safety policies and company procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Quantity surveying/commercial experience within construction.
- Strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Experience with contracts, variations, claims and final accounts.
- Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
- Understanding of procurement and subcontract management.
- Good negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of project risks, delays and costs.
- Good IT, numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with contractors, consultants and project teams.
- Willingness to work from the Northallerton office and attend sites across North Yorkshire.
