Main Purpose
To support the Team Manager in leading and supervising Social Workers, ensuring high-quality safeguarding services and statutory duties are met.
Typical Day
Supervising Social Workers, reviewing cases, supporting safeguarding decisions, attending multi-agency meetings, monitoring performance and managing complex cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support Social Workers, including NQSWs.
- Oversee caseloads and ensure statutory timescales are met.
- Manage a small caseload of complex cases.
- Support Child Protection, CIN and LAC work.
- Monitor team performance and promote best practice.
- Work closely with Police, Health, CAMHS and other professionals.
- Represent the Team Manager at meetings when required.
- Promote equality, fairness and dignity.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
- Experience in Children’s Social Care and safeguarding.
- Experience with Child Protection, CIN and/or LAC.
- Strong supervision, decision-making and risk assessment skills.
- Good communication and partnership-working skills.
- Ability to manage complex cases and competing priorities.
