Rate: 220.05 per day Main Purpose of the Role To support the Trading Standards Service Manager in delivering an effective and legally compliant service, providing technical guidance to officers and leading complex enforcement cases.
The role will protect residents, businesses and visitors in Barnet and act as Chief Weights and Measures Inspector, ensuring the Council meets its statutory duties.
Key Responsibilities Support the Service Manager with the day-to-day delivery of Trading Standards.
Monitor workloads and provide advice and guidance to officers.
Lead complex, high-risk and priority investigations.
Manage an individual caseload and undertake enforcement action.
Provide technical advice on Trading Standards legislation and enforcement.
Prepare cases for prosecution and other formal enforcement action.
Work with businesses to promote legal compliance.
Work with police, legal services and other partner agencies.
Develop guidance, procedures and training resources.
Act as Chief Weights and Measures Inspector and oversee related statutory duties.
Ensure enforcement decisions are proportionate, consistent and legally robust.
