Work Pattern: 36 hours a week,
PAYE Pay Rate: £45.84 per hour
Main Purpose
To investigate housing complaints, inspect private rented properties, identify hazards and ensure landlords meet legal housing standards.
Typical Day
- Investigate housing complaints.
- Visit and inspect properties.
- Identify hazards such as damp, pests, drainage and poor conditions.
- Speak with tenants, landlords and agents.
- Provide advice and guidance.
- Record findings and manage cases.
- Take enforcement action where necessary.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to investigate and assess housing problems.
- Good attention to detail and report writing.
- Ability to manage a caseload and priorities work.
- Understanding of housing standards and legislation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Confident dealing with landlords and tenants.
Essential Qualifications / Requirements
- Relevant housing, property, environmental health or similar experience/qualification.
- Basic understanding of housing hazards and standards.
- Good IT and administration skills.
- Ability to carry out property inspections.
- Ability to travel to properties as required.
- Knowledge of HHSRS and housing legislation is desirable.
