The Barnet Domestic Abuse Safety Hub (BDASH) is a multi-agency service forming part of the borough’s coordinated response to domestic abuse. The service provides specialist, trauma-informed advocacy, safety planning, and support to survivors of domestic abuse. BDASH works in partnership with statutory and voluntary sector agencies, including police, health, housing, children’s services, and MARAC, to reduce risk, improve safety, and support recovery.
The Team Manager will be responsible for the operational leadership and day-to-day management of BDASH, overseeing a multidisciplinary team including Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs), Domestic Abuse Independent Officers (DAIOs), senior practitioners, and other specialist roles. The post holder will ensure the delivery of a high-quality, survivor-centred, trauma-informed service that meets contractual, safeguarding, and performance requirements. They will also act as a key representative of the service within multi-agency safeguarding and domestic abuse systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Service Delivery
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of BDASH, ensuring safe, effective, and timely support for survivors.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, safeguarding procedures, and organisational standards.
- Oversee case allocation, caseload management, and service pathways.
- Ensure risk is appropriately assessed, managed, and escalated in line with safeguarding frameworks.
- Maintain oversight of service quality and trauma-informed practice across all casework.
- Team Leadership and Management
- Provide line management, supervision, coaching, and professional development to IDVAs and practitioners.
- Lead regular team meetings, reflective practice sessions, and case reviews.
- Foster a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage performance, including setting objectives, monitoring progress, and addressing underperformance where required.
- Support staff wellbeing and resilience in a high-risk, emotionally demanding environment.
- Safeguarding and Risk Management
- Ensure effective implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Provide oversight of high-risk domestic abuse cases, including MARAC referrals and escalation processes.

- Act as the service lead in multi-agency forums, including MARAC and safeguarding meetings.

- Monitor and manage team performance against KPIs, outcomes, and contractual targets.
- Ensure high-quality case recording and effective use of case management systems.

Person Specification
- Experience
- Significant experience working with survivors of domestic abuse or vulnerable adults.
- Experience managing or supervising specialist frontline teams (e.g. IDVAs or equivalent).
- Experience working in multi-agency safeguarding environments (including MARAC).
- Experience of performance management and service delivery within a regulated or commissioned service.
- Knowledge
- Strong understanding of domestic abuse, coercive control, and VAWG frameworks.
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and guidance (e.g. Domestic Abuse Act 2021, Children Act 1989, Care Act 2014).
- Understanding of risk assessment tools such as DASH and safety planning approaches.
- Aware of civil, criminal, and family justice processes related to domestic abuse.
