To manage housing disrepair cases, minimise legal and financial risk to the Council, and ensure repairs-related complaints and litigation threats are resolved quickly, fairly, and wherever possible without court action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage housing disrepair cases from initial complaint through to resolution or litigation.
  • Act as the main point of contact between residents, surveyors, contractors, legal services, and housing teams.
  • Work proactively to prevent legal action by ensuring inspections and repairs are carried out promptly and to standard.
  • Monitor case progress, deadlines, and potential costs, providing updates and recommendations to managers.
  • Prepare and submit case information to Legal Services and represent the Council in court when required.
  • Support responses to Stage 2 complaints and Ombudsman cases involving disrepair.
  • Ensure residents are kept informed throughout the process and correspondence is handled within target timescales.
  • Ensure compliance with housing legislation, council policies, safeguarding duties, and equality standards.
