In this temporary role, you will provide expert capacity to lead key consultation projects and ensure residents have a direct voice in Council decisions. You’ll work within the Communications and Engagement team to take on established workload, guiding inclusive engagement across services, with a focus on legal robustness and data-informed policy shaping. You partner with senior officers, elected Members, and Housing colleagues to drive meaningful participation and insights. This is an opportunity to impact local governance through high-impact, evidence-based engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead planning and execution of inclusive public consultation across Council services
- Ensure consultation processes meet statutory duties and can withstand legal challenge
- Advise on engagement strategies for high-profile and sensitive local issues with senior officers and elected Members
- Support tenant, leaseholder, and resident engagement activities with Housing colleagues
- Oversee analysis and interpretation of consultation feedback to shape Council policy
Key requirements
- Proven track record delivering complex public consultations in local authority or large public sector
- Politically sensitive environment navigation with elected Members
- Strong grasp of statutory consultation requirements and engagement best practices
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to engage diverse communities and leadership
- Ability to own an established workload and deliver results independently from day one
