About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and resident-focused Accommodation Officer to join our Housing Needs & Homelessness service. This is a key frontline role supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness by securing and managing high-quality temporary accommodation (TA) and private rented sector (PRS) housing. You will play a vital role in ensuring residents are placed in safe, suitable accommodation quickly, while working towards long-term housing solutions. The role combines housing allocation, property management, compliance, and resident support.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, allocate and manage temporary accommodation (TA) and private rented sector (PRS) housing
- Carry out property inspections (planned and reactive) to ensure compliance with safety and housing standards
- Manage landlord and agent relationships, including leases, contracts, and payments
- Support residents to sustain tenancies and move into long-term housing options
- Provide housing advice, guidance, and signposting to services
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to resolve housing issues
- Monitor and manage housing records, ensuring accurate data entry and compliance with GDPR
- Respond to complaints, enquiries, and housing-related issues in a timely and professional manner
- Contribute to reducing homelessness and the use of temporary accommodation
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in a customer-facing housing or homelessness service
- Knowledgeable about housing legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
- Skilled in managing complex cases and working with vulnerable individuals
- Confident in working with landlords, agents, and multiple stakeholders
- Organised, with the ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in IT systems and Microsoft Office
Essential Requirements
- Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in housing or related field
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths
- Experience working in housing, homelessness, or property management
- Ability to work flexibly, including out-of-hours rota if required
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
