Key Responsibilities
- Play a key role in driving the council's digital transformation by contributing significantly to the development and implementation of RPA solutions, AI chatbots, and AI technologies, under the guidance of the Digital Programme Manager.
- Collaborate closely with the RPA Business Analyst and other stakeholders to assess, select, and optimise processes for automation.
- Provide development leadership and technical expertise to a team of junior developers.
- Manage and actively participate in multi-disciplinary teams, spearheading organisational and cultural change, business process re-engineering, and driving digital automation initiatives across the council.
- Design, develop, implement, deploy, and manage automated processes (including RPA solutions and AI chatbots) to support services across the council.
- Oversee the development and implementation of RPA solutions using the council's chosen development system.
- Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of AI chatbots using the council's chosen development system or similar platforms.
- Support the Digital Programme Manager to manage and maintain AI models for automation purposes.
- Provide Level 1 support for automated processes.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Document processes and solutions for future reference and ensure knowledge transfer.
- Generate monthly automation reports that summarise key metrics, highlight savings, identify trends, and document the impact of automation initiatives.
- Ensure that the council's overall vision, values and ethos are central to the requirements of the service.
- Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and all employees are required to act in such a way that always safeguards the health and well-being of children and vulnerable adults.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of this post, and as directed by the Digital Programme Manager.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure successful project execution.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and scripts for the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase.
- Provide ongoing support for deployed automation processes, offering timely solutions and addressing post-production issues effectively.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive working knowledge of current business processes and an understanding of existing systems/applications to deliver effective development of automations.
- Knowledge of transformation, service re-design and service improvement models and good practice.
- Demonstrable knowledge on artificial Intelligence, robotics process automation and chat bot.
- Strong knowledge of C# language and .net framework (essential).
- Demonstrable experience of influencing and delivering cultural change in a large complex organisation.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel.
- Ability to collate vast amounts of data, analyse the data and use evidence-based approaches to identify processes fit for automation.
- Influential and persuasive communicator with the ability to present technical details to a non-technical audience.
- Proven ability to proactively work on own initiative, under pressure to tight timescales, managing and prioritising workload.
- Excellent organisation, planning and presentational skills.
