The predicted salary is between 19.4 - 19.4 £ per hour.

PAYE: £19.40 per hour. 2 days in the office, 3 days remote, may be some need to work from other locations around the City.

Job Purpose: To provide expert employee relations and HR policy advice and guidance to a range of customers and stakeholders. To manage a range of employee relations cases and projects in compliance with employment legislation and Council policies.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

  • Manage a personal caseload of employee relations cases and projects including, but not limited to, investigations, sickness, discipline, grievance, performance, redeployment, flexible working and retirement within prescribed timescales and in accordance with the relevant employment policies, guidance and legislation.
  • Administer a range of HR processes such as fixed term contract extensions and terminations, honoraria, FOIs/DSARs and post amendments in accordance with relevant legislation and/or policy.
  • Provide advice, guidance and training on all employment matters, ensuring HR policies, guidance and processes are adhered to and used correctly.
  • Liaise with a variety of internal and external customers, including trade union representatives and representatives of external agencies as required.
  • Maintain accurate case management records producing high quality data analysis and reporting to support the delivery of HR objectives.
  • Conduct exit interviews where required and analyse and provide feedback on exit data.
  • Conduct job evaluations processes including grading reviews and grading appeals.
  • Facilitate or support project meetings, formal meetings, hearings, appeals and Employment Tribunals.
  • Continue to maintain the highest standards of professional practice and take responsibility for personal development, keeping abreast of legal developments and best practice.
  • Undertake, where required, other responsibilities and duties including work related to all areas of business, on behalf of the organisation, where this is commensurate with the grade of the post.

Budget and Financial Responsibility: Being fully accountable for managing the council’s resources well and complying with statutory requirements. This includes managing time, avoiding unnecessary waste, reuse and recycle resources to reduce personal impact.

Physical Demands of the Job: This post involves both office and field work. Hence it involves sedentary work and the need to travel to appointments.

Qualification and training Essential: Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) qualification or equivalent proven experience.

Experience Essential: Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks relating to human resource management and employee relations. Knowledge of relevant employment legislation and its practical application to local and national terms and conditions of employment. Proven experience of managing a varied employee relations caseload in a timely manner and in accordance with agreed timescales.

Desirable: Experience of providing high standards of customer service.

Skills/Abilities Essential: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement. Ability to negotiate with managers and trade union representatives whilst maintaining effective and credible relationships. Good interpersonal and influencing skills. Demonstrable attention to detail in compliance with legislation and policy frameworks.
