Adult Safeguarding Social Worker

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and committed Adult Safeguarding Social Worker to join our Adult Safeguarding service in Knowsley. You will play a key role in promoting the welfare and safeguarding of adults, ensuring that safeguarding concerns are appropriately assessed, managed and monitored in accordance with the Care Act 2014 and local safeguarding policies and procedures.

Working under the direction of the management team, you will manage a caseload of approximately 12-15 cases and undertake safeguarding enquiries involving different levels of complexity, risk, uncertainty and challenge, appropriate to the level of an experienced Social Worker.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Section 42 safeguarding enquiries in accordance with the Care Act 2014.
  • Assess and manage safeguarding risks and ensure the needs and welfare of adults are appropriately monitored.
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 12-15 safeguarding cases.
  • Work with adults, families, carers and partner agencies to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.
  • Undertake enquiries involving varying levels of complexity, risk and challenge.
  • Make appropriate decisions regarding safeguarding concerns and ensure actions are followed through effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with health, social care, police and other partner agencies as part of a multi-agency safeguarding approach.
  • Work as an Adult MASH Duty Social Worker one day per week, taking calls, completing partnership checks and undertaking initial enquiries.
  • Provide occasional cover for sickness and annual leave within the service.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive case records and safeguarding documentation.
  • Work in accordance with Knowsley's safeguarding policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure information is handled securely and in accordance with GDPR, Data Protection and Information Security requirements.
  • Report actual or potential information security incidents appropriately.
  • Promote positive outcomes for adults while ensuring safeguarding risks are identified, assessed and managed effectively.

About You

You will be an experienced Social Worker with strong knowledge and practical experience of adult safeguarding. You will have a sound understanding of the Care Act 2014, particularly Section 42 safeguarding enquiries, and be confident managing cases involving risk, complexity and uncertainty.

Experience of working within an Adult MASH or a similar multi-agency safeguarding environment would be advantageous. You should be confident working with partner agencies, undertaking information and partnership checks, assessing risk and making professional decisions in challenging circumstances.

You will also need strong communication, assessment, recording and case management skills, together with an understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and information security.

Essential Experience & Knowledge

  • Qualified and experienced Social Worker.
  • Experience of adult safeguarding.
  • Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and Section 42 safeguarding enquiries.
  • Experience managing safeguarding cases and assessing risk.
  • Experience of working with complex or challenging cases.
  • Strong multi-agency and partnership working skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively and prioritise competing demands.
  • Understanding of GDPR, confidentiality, data protection and information security.
  • Ability to work independently while operating effectively within a wider management and safeguarding framework.

Desirable

  • Previous Adult MASH experience.
  • Experience undertaking initial safeguarding screening and partnership checks.
  • Experience working within a local authority Adult Social Care or safeguarding service.
  • Knowledge of local safeguarding procedures and multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.
