The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced
Heating Engineer / Domestic Gas Engineer to join a local authority housing maintenance team.
Working across council housing stock and corporate properties, you will be responsible for carrying out predominantly heating installation work
, along with servicing, maintenance, repairs and gas safety works. This is a field-based role requiring travel between sites, with a company vehicle provided where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service and repair domestic gas and heating systems.
- Carry out boiler and central heating installations.
- Complete responsive repairs and emergency call-outs when required.
- Undertake planned maintenance, servicing, testing and inspections.
- Carry out works to void properties ready for new tenants.
- Complete gas safety certification and job reports using handheld electronic devices.
- Order materials and identify any follow-on works.
- Ensure all work complies with current Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations and industry standards.
- Maintain company vehicle, van stock, tools and equipment.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, including PPE, RAMS and asbestos awareness requirements.
- Deliver excellent customer service when working within occupied properties.
Essential Requirements
- Current Gas Safe Registration.

- Unvented Hot Water
- Proven experience carrying out domestic gas installations and repairs.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to use handheld devices to complete job documentation.
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Desirable
- Time-served apprenticeship.
- Previous experience working within social housing or local authority maintenance.
- Additional qualifications such as LPG, Oil, Renewables or Non-Domestic Gas.
- CAT B Asbestos Awareness Training.

- 3-month rolling contract with potential for extension.
- Participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota is required.
- This is a fully site-based role; home working is not available.
