To deliver high-quality gas and heating maintenance services across council housing and corporate properties, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient repair, servicing, and installation of domestic gas systems under the direction of the Repairs Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out gas heating repairs, servicing, and installations in line with work orders.
- Respond to emergency and reactive heating breakdowns across housing stock.
- Complete planned maintenance, void property works, and safety inspections.
- Install, test, and certify gas appliances in accordance with current regulations.
- Complete all job records, certification, and reports using handheld/mobile systems.
- Diagnose faults and determine appropriate remedial actions.
- Manage and maintain van stock, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations and RAMS/SSOW.
- Participate in out-of-hours and emergency call-out rota.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, including PPE use and asbestos awareness procedures.
Requirements
- Valid Gas Safe registration.
- Core gas qualifications (e.g. CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, CPA1, etc.).
- Experience in domestic gas/heating maintenance and repairs.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a mobile maintenance team.
- Competence using digital job management systems.
- Strong awareness of health & safety and compliance standards.
Additional Information
- Mobile role covering multiple housing sites (no home working).
- Participation in emergency out-of-hours rota required.
- 3-month rolling contract within local authority housing services.
