Purpose of the Role

To provide professional property management leadership for the Council’s property portfolio, ensuring assets are effectively managed, income is maximized, and property decisions support strategic and operational objectives.

  • Typical Day
  • Providing professional property advice to internal teams and senior managers.
  • Managing lease events, lettings, rent reviews, renewals, and property transactions.
  • Reviewing asset performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Working with stakeholders, tenants, and external advisors on property matters.
  • Supporting strategic asset management plans and service delivery requirements.
  • Leading and mentoring the Property Asset Management team.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Deliver professional property management services across the Council’s corporate portfolio.
  • Manage commercial, industrial, retail, agricultural, and operational property assets.
  • Provide expert advice on leases, valuations, landlord and tenant matters, and asset strategy.
  • Maximize income and ensure effective use of property assets.
  • Support asset valuations in accordance with CIPFA guidance and professional standards.
  • Develop effective relationships with Council services and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
  • Manage and develop Property Asset Managers through supervision, performance management, recruitment, and training.
