We are seeking an experienced Caretaker to support a busy Multi Storey Team across high‑rise residential blocks in Gateshead. This role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and building upkeep within communal areas. Training and induction will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver cleaning duties to a daily rota across communal areas of multi-storey blocks
- Carry out building inspections, report repairs and maintenance issues
- Complete minor maintenance tasks including changing light bulbs and painting over graffiti
- Monitor and report anti‑social behaviour, vandalism and safety concerns
- Support building security and verify visitors, contractors and deliveries
- Act as the first point of contact for residents, visitors and contractors
- Assist with grounds upkeep including litter picking, refuse bin rotation and external area checks
- Work independently in a lone working environment
Requirements
- Previous caretaking and/or cleaning experience essential
- Comfortable with lone working and manual handling duties
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Able to work flexibly, manage workloads and build positive relationships with residents and colleagues
Contract: Initially until end of June, with potential extension.
