We are seeking an experienced FRA Carpenter to join our team delivering high-quality fire safety and passive fire protection works across multiple sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, repair, upgrading, and maintenance of fire doors, fire stopping systems, electrical enclosures, and fire-related boarding works, ensuring all work is completed to current British Standards and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Install new fire doors and complete repairs to existing fire door sets and frames.
- Upgrade existing doors to meet required fire safety standards and compliance specifications.
- Carry out fire stopping works, including sealing penetrations, gaps, and compartmentation defects.
- Install fire-rated plasterboard and fire protection systems as required.
- Fit and construct electrical/fire-rated enclosures.
- Understand, inspect, and correctly install all fire door components, including seals, hinges, closers, ironmongery, and associated hardware.
- Ensure all works are completed in line with British Standards, fire safety regulations, and company quality procedures.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality control, and attention to detail.
- Complete accurate record keeping, site documentation, job sheets, and minor administration requirements.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, residents, and stakeholders.
- Work independently and contribute a proactive, problem-solving approach on site.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as an FRA Carpenter, Fire Door Carpenter, or Passive Fire Protection Carpenter.
- Strong knowledge of fire doors, fire stopping, and passive fire protection works.
- Good understanding of fire door components and installation standards.
- Working knowledge of relevant British Standards and fire safety regulations.
- Excellent quality management and workmanship standards.
- Strong organisational skills with good attention to paperwork and record keeping.
- Customer-focused with excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Innovative mindset with the ability to solve problems effectively on site.
Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
- Ability to travel between sites - company van provided.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
