Provide strategic and operational technical leadership across fire safety, fire engineering, and building safety risks within a large residential housing portfolio, supporting statutory compliance under the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.
Act as technical adviser to the organisation in its duties as Accountable Person and Principal Accountable Person for Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs), delivering independent assurance, specialist oversight, and expert challenge across fire safety compliance, design, refurbishment, contractor performance, incident investigation, and life‑safety risk management.
Key Responsibilities- Delivered strategic fire safety leadership, technical assurance, and professional oversight across residential housing and higher-risk buildings.
- Reviewed fire strategies, technical drawings, specifications, refurbishment designs, and engineering submissions for compliance with Approved Document B, BS9991, BS5839, BS5266, and related standards.
- Identified fire safety defects, compartmentation failures, passive fire protection issues, and design non‑compliance, providing formal technical recommendations and risk mitigation measures.
- Undertook independent assurance of Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) actions using risk‑based audits, inspections, and verification sampling.
- Conducted targeted site inspections during live works to assess contractor compliance, workmanship quality, RAMS, permit systems, hot works controls, fire stopping, and temporary fire precautions.
- Provided technical oversight of fire protection systems including fire alarms, emergency lighting, sprinklers, smoke control systems, AOVs, and fire doors.
- Supported Building Safety Case development, Golden Thread information requirements, regulatory submissions, gateway compliance, and Building Safety Regulator engagement.
- Led technical investigations into fire incidents, near misses, significant safety events, and root‑cause analysis activities, ensuring lessons learned and corrective actions were implemented.
- Acted as technical liaison with enforcement bodies, fire authorities, contractors, consultants, and specialist advisors.
- Supported resident safety initiatives, complex casework, vulnerability assessments, complaints management, and person‑centred fire risk approaches.
