We are seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor or Senior Lawyer to join a team of established legal professionals on a maternity cover basis.

Role Overview

You will manage a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, providing high-quality legal advice and representation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct employment tribunal litigation, including preparation and advocacy at hearings
  • Advise managers and HR on a range of employment law issues
  • Handle disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, and restructuring matters
  • Draft and review employment policies, agreements, and related documentation
  • Provide clear, practical legal advice within a public sector framework

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor or equivalent with strong employment law experience
  • Proven experience in both advisory and tribunal work
  • Experience within a local authority or public sector environment is desirable
  • Strong communication and case management skills

Working Arrangements

Initial office attendance for onboarding (first couple of weeks). Predominantly remote working thereafter. Office attendance required only for final hearings or key proceedings.
