Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality legal advice and support primarily in employment law, with additional responsibility for education-related matters. The role includes supervising junior staff and deputising for senior lawyers when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive, clear and practical legal advice to clients on employment and education matters
- Handle employment litigation, including Employment Tribunal cases
- Advise on large-scale restructures, redundancies and TUPE
- Support organisational decision-making through legal input into policy and strategy development
- Supervise and mentor Senior Legal Assistants, Legal Assistants and/or trainees
- Deputise for Senior Lawyers as required
Qualifications and Membership
- Admitted Solicitor, Barrister or FILEX
Knowledge and Experience
- Strong working knowledge of employment litigation, restructures, redundancies and TUPE
- Post-qualification experience in the legal profession
- Substantial recent experience (ideally within the last two years) in employment and/or education law
- Experience contributing to corporate decision-making and policy development
