Essential Requirements / Info:
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 1 year Post‑Qualified Experience, gained within general commercial contract law.
Work pattern: 3 days/21 hours per week, fixed term for two months, 1 day per week (Wednesday – day is non‑negotiable) in office with Legal team.
To provide practical contract support to the Legal and Compliance team, assisting with the preparation, review, administration and coordination of contracts. The role will support Legal and Compliance staff to ensure contracts are managed efficiently, consistently, and in line with university policies and procedures.
Key Tasks:
- To draft, review and negotiate a range of contracts across different departments within the university including procurement, partnerships and estates.
- To advise on the risks associated with draft contract terms, options available and to lead on contract negotiations as required.
- Maintain accurate contract records and register of the agreements.
- Liaise with academic, professional services to assist in progressing contract matters efficiently.
- To undertake legal research as required, and to monitor legal, regulatory and sector‑specific developments and advise on their potential impact on the University.
- To manage relationships with internal stakeholder clients, and external contacts, maintaining the good reputation of the University’s legal services function and delivering an excellent level of service.
Any other duties as may reasonably be requested.

The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied from time to time as dictated by the changing needs of the University. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and as requested by their manager. The post holder may be required to work at any of the locations at which the business of Royal Holloway is conducted.
