Main Purpose of Job:

To provide strategic and operational leadership for ESOL curriculum area, ensuring the effective planning, delivery, quality assurance and development of adult learning provision. The Curriculum Manager is responsible for leading curriculum staff, driving continuous improvement in teaching and learning, maximising learner achievement and progression, and ensuring that provision meets organisational, funding and community priorities.

Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities / KRA:

  • Lead and manage the curriculum area to ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Manage, support and develop Senior Tutors, Permanent Tutors and Associate Tutors to achieve outstanding learner outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate curriculum performance, including recruitment, retention, achievement, progression and learner satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement curriculum plans that meet learner needs, funding requirements and strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to self-assessment, quality improvement planning and inspection readiness activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, awarding organisation and funding body requirements.
  • Manage curriculum resources and budgets effectively to ensure value for money and high-quality provision.
  • Establish productive relationships with employers, partners and community organisations to support learner engagement and progression.
  • Use performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement effective actions to raise standards.

Job Activities:

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the curriculum area and its teaching staff.
  • Undertake staff recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal and performance management activities.
  • Observe, monitor and support teaching, learning and assessment to ensure high standards across programmes.
  • Analyse learner and programme performance data and provide reports to the Principal and senior leaders.
  • Plan and develop new courses and learning opportunities in response to local priorities and learner demand.
  • Work collaboratively with quality, MIS, examinations, finance and learner support teams to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Represent the service at internal and external meetings, partnership events and stakeholder forums.
  • Promote and embed safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and learner wellbeing across all aspects of delivery.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the post.

  • The post holder will be required to comply with organisation’s policies and procedures.
