The role:
- Senior Health & Safety Advisor
- Location: Coventry
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Rate: £20.29 per hour
- Duration: 3 months+
- Working pattern: Hybrid – 1–2 days on-site, plus 1 office day per week for the team meeting
- Start: ASAP
You’ll be providing professional health & safety advice across a large and diverse Local Authority, working closely with managers and senior stakeholders to promote a strong health & safety culture.
The role will include:
- Advising managers on risk assessments, audits, inspections and accident investigations
- Reviewing and developing health & safety policies, procedures and management systems
- Delivering health & safety training and guidance to managers and employees
- Monitoring compliance with legislation and best practice
- Supporting contractor management and CDM compliance
- Producing reports, analysing incident trends and recommending preventative actions
- Working with senior managers, Trade Unions, external agencies and enforcement bodies where required
What we’re looking for:
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety – essential
- IOSH membership (CMIOSH, GradIOSH or working towards Chartered status)
- Strong experience in health & safety auditing, inspections, investigations and risk assessments
- Experience interpreting and applying H&S legislation within complex organisations
- Experience developing policies and procedures
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and contractor management
You’ll also need to be able to travel efficiently to sites across Coventry when required.
