Cleaning & Hygiene Operative
Location: Chepstow
Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 3:30pm–7:30pm
DBS: Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List Check required

We are currently recruiting for a Cleaning & Hygiene Operative to work within a school environment in Chepstow.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the school, helping to provide a safe, clean and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning classrooms and other areas of the school.
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and dusting.
  • Washing floors and walls.
  • Cleaning sanitary areas.
  • Emptying litter bins and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Safely using vacuum cleaners and cleaning equipment.
  • Using cleaning chemicals safely and correctly.
  • Maintaining adequate stocks of cleaning materials.
  • Reporting any faults with cleaning equipment to a supervisor.
  • Following all health & safety, cleaning and quality procedures.
  • Working effectively as part of a wider facilities team.

About You

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Previous cleaning or hygiene experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible and reliable approach to work.
  • The ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • An understanding of health and safety when working with cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • A willingness to undertake relevant training.

Previous school cleaning experience would be advantageous, but candidates with other relevant cleaning experience are encouraged to apply.

An Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List Check will be required for this position.
