We are looking to recruit either an experienced Legal Planning Assistant or a newly qualified Junior Lawyer with at least 6 months planning experience to support our Planning and Highways team across the shared legal service. The role will involve managing a varied caseload of planning and highways matters, including drafting legal agreements, notices and related documentation, and providing legal support to officers across 4 authorities.

Preferred Experience

  • Section 106 Agreements
  • Section 278 Agreements
  • Planning enforcement, including drafting and issuing notices relating to breaches of planning control
  • Drafting Tree Preservation Orders and S215 Amenity Notices
  • General local government advisory work

Mandatory Requirements

  • At least 6 months’ experience in the role undertaking planning and/or highways work
  • Experience drafting legal documents and agreements
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Experience working with client officers and external parties
  • Local Authority experience desirable but not essential

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience of managing a workload relating to planning and highways matters and be comfortable working within a busy shared legal service environment. Office attendance of 1 day per week preferred.
