This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Children’s Services leader to take a key role in driving service improvement, supporting practice development and improving outcomes for children with disabilities and their families.

Service Manager – Children with Disabilities

£370 per day
Initial 3-month contract
Suffolk
3–4 days per week on-site

Locations: Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds & Ipswich
The role will be primarily based in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich.

The Opportunity

You’ll provide visible operational leadership within the Children with Disabilities Service, with a particular focus on the continued development and improvement of the Activities Unlimited Short Breaks Service.

Working closely with senior leaders, managers and frontline practitioners, you’ll lead an established improvement programme, helping to embed sustainable change and ensure children and families receive high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership across the Children with Disabilities Service
  • Lead the ongoing development of the Activities Unlimited Short Breaks Service
  • Drive service improvement, transformation and practice development
  • Support and challenge practice to improve outcomes for children and families
  • Engage, motivate and support teams through organisational change
  • Monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with senior leadership and project teams to deliver strategic priorities
  • Contribute to budget management and ensure services operate effectively within financial parameters
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and governance meetings
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders

What we’re looking for

  • Significant management experience within Children’s Services
  • Recent experience working within a Children with Disabilities (CWD) Service
  • A strong track record of leading service improvement, transformation and change
  • Excellent operational leadership and people-management skills
  • Experience managing performance and working within budgetary frameworks
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • The resilience and drive to lead change and bring teams with you

This role requires 3–4 days per week on-site to provide visible leadership and support practice development, although four-day working patterns may be considered.
