Team Manager – Children’s Social Work
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Team Manager to lead a frontline children’s social work team and drive high‑quality practice that improves outcomes for children and families.
In this role, you will provide strong leadership, supervision, and support to social workers, ensuring effective practice across assessments, Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), pre‑proceedings, and court work. You will oversee case quality, performance, and workload management, while making confident decisions on complex safeguarding matters.
You will work closely with partner agencies to ensure children receive the right support at the right time, promoting positive outcomes and safeguarding children’s wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and motivate a frontline children’s social work team.
- Provide regular supervision, guidance, and professional support to social workers.
- Ensure high‑quality practice across assessments, CIN, CP, pre‑proceedings, and court proceedings.
- Monitor case quality, performance, and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Manage workloads effectively and support timely decision‑making.
- Make informed decisions regarding complex safeguarding cases.
- Promote reflective practice and continuous improvement within the team.
- Build effective working relationships with partner agencies and professionals.
- Champion positive outcomes for children and families.
About You
You will be an experienced children’s social care professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering excellent practice. You will have the ability to support and develop social workers, manage competing priorities, and make sound safeguarding decisions in complex situations.
You will bring:
- Experience of managing or supervising a children’s social work team.
- Strong knowledge of statutory children’s social care practice.
- Experience across assessments, CIN, CP, pre‑proceedings, and court work.
- Excellent communication and partnership‑working skills.
- The ability to analyse risk and make confident decisions.
- A commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.
