HGV Class 2 Driver Team Leader - Waste & Recycling
Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Pay Rate: £17.57 per hour
Hours: 44.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Start: Immediate
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver Team Leader to join the Waste & Recycling team at Buckinghamshire Council in Aylesbury.
This is a hands-on role combining HGV Class 2 driving with team leadership . You will be responsible for safely operating a refuse collection vehicle while leading and supporting a small crew of Waste & Recycling Operatives throughout the working day.
You will play an important role in ensuring waste and recycling collections are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule , while maintaining high standards of customer service and health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely drive and operate a refuse collection vehicle.
- Lead and support a small team of Waste & Recycling Operatives.
- Ensure collections are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
- Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety .
- Monitor safe working practices across the crew.
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
- Work closely with supervisors and colleagues to resolve issues encountered on route.
- Provide a professional and courteous service to local residents and businesses.
- Take responsibility for the crew and daily collection route.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A valid HGV Class 2 driving licence .
- A valid Driver CPC qualification .
- Previous experience driving HGV Class 2 vehicles .
- Previous experience leading or supervising a team, or the confidence to take responsibility for a small crew.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A strong understanding of health and safety.
- A reliable, professional and positive approach to work.
Previous experience within waste collection, refuse services, highways or environmental services would be beneficial but is not essential.
