Overview
The Library Manager ensures the effective running of the library by leading staff, delivering excellent customer service, managing resources, and developing services to meet community needs. The role involves overseeing daily operations, supporting staff and volunteers, managing performance, and working with partners to improve library services.
The Library Manager is responsible for leading and managing a designated library or libraries to deliver an excellent, high‑quality, customer‑focused service. The role involves managing staff, volunteers, resources, performance, buildings, budgets, and community partnerships while continuously improving and developing library services to meet local community needs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day‑to‑day operation of the library, ensuring effective staffing, service standards, health and safety, and building management.
- Manage and develop library staff, volunteers, and resources to deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
- Improve and develop library services by responding to community needs, introducing new ways of working, and supporting service improvements.
- Manage performance, targets, budgets, and resources to ensure the library meets council objectives and delivers value for money.
- Build strong relationships with local communities, partners, and stakeholders to increase engagement and extend library services.
- Provide excellent customer service and handle enquiries, complaints, and challenges professionally while ensuring equality, inclusion, and accessibility for all users.
Work Hours
35 hours a week – Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.
Salary
PAYE pay rate – £20.96 per hour.
