Carriera is partnering with a true leader in the residential construction sector to recruit a Lead Principal Designer specialising in Building Regulations for high-rise buildings (HRBs). This is a senior role for an experienced professional who has a proven track record of taking projects through to Gateway 2 and thrives in a leadership capacity.
The Role
You will lead a highly skilled team of three Building Regulations / Principal Designers, overseeing the design management and compliance of high-rise residential projects. Acting as the go-to expert on building regulations, you will provide strategic oversight, ensure design quality, and mentor your team while liaising directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 3 BR/PDs across multiple high-rise residential projects
- Ensure projects comply with building regulations and Principal Designer duties
- Oversee applications through to Gateway 2 approvals
- Act as the principal point of contact for clients and design teams regarding regulatory compliance
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to your team
- Review and approve design risk assessments, method statements, and project documentation
- Collaborate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery
- Ensure adherence to RIBA, APS, and CIAT standards for Principal Designers
About You
- Registered on RIBA, APS, or CIAT as a Principal Designer
- Extensive experience in high-rise residential projects
- Proven track record of managing teams and delivering projects through Gateway 2
- Strong knowledge of building regulations and compliance requirements
- Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
