Carriera is partnering with a true leader in the residential construction sector to recruit a Lead Principal Designer specialising in Building Regulations for high-rise buildings (HRBs). This is a senior role for an experienced professional who has a proven track record of taking projects through to Gateway 2 and thrives in a leadership capacity.

The Role

You will lead a highly skilled team of three Building Regulations / Principal Designers, overseeing the design management and compliance of high-rise residential projects. Acting as the go-to expert on building regulations, you will provide strategic oversight, ensure design quality, and mentor your team while liaising directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of 3 BR/PDs across multiple high-rise residential projects
  • Ensure projects comply with building regulations and Principal Designer duties
  • Oversee applications through to Gateway 2 approvals
  • Act as the principal point of contact for clients and design teams regarding regulatory compliance
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to your team
  • Review and approve design risk assessments, method statements, and project documentation
  • Collaborate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery
  • Ensure adherence to RIBA, APS, and CIAT standards for Principal Designers

About You

  • Registered on RIBA, APS, or CIAT as a Principal Designer
  • Extensive experience in high-rise residential projects
  • Proven track record of managing teams and delivering projects through Gateway 2
  • Strong knowledge of building regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
