An established consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior to Associate level Fire Engineer to join its London-based Fire Engineering team. The business has an established presence across fire safety and building compliance, with over 15 years experience in the sector. It is affiliated with the IFE and IFSM, is BAFE 205 accredited, and has recently strengthened its senior leadership across Fire Engineering and FRAEW. Due to a strong pipeline of secured projects and rapid growth across the business, the Fire Engineering team is expanding and looking to appoint an experienced Fire Engineer at Senior, Principal or Associate level.

You will work across a varied portfolio of projects, delivering fire strategies, fire engineering design, qualitative design reviews and building safety case reports. The role also provides the opportunity to become involved in cladding and compartmentation remediation, fire risk assessments and external wall fire risk appraisals, should you wish. The team is currently small enough that every engineer has a visible impact on projects and business growth, while being large enough to provide support, mentoring and technical collaboration as part of a fun, driven and growing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver fire strategies and retrospective fire strategies across a range of buildings and sectors.
  • Deliver fire engineering design for cladding and compartmentation remediation projects.
  • Undertake qualitative design reviews as part of wider project design teams.
  • Provide specialist technical advice to clients, colleagues and project teams.
  • Develop scopes for contractors covering internal and external opening-up works.
  • Attend sites with contractors to undertake intrusive investigations.
  • Contribute to the delivery and development of fire engineering projects across the wider business.

About You

We're interested in speaking with experienced fire engineers from Senior through to Associate level, including strong Principal-level candidates, who are looking for a technically varied role with genuine progression opportunities.

You will ideally have:

  • A BEng or MSc in Fire Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Over four years' professional experience within a fire engineering consultancy environment.
  • Strong experience delivering fire strategies and fire engineering design.
  • IFE membership at Technician grade or above.
  • Strong technical knowledge and the ability to apply professional judgement to complex projects.
  • A willingness to continue developing professionally (CEng progression actively encouraged).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.

Benefits

  • Real hybrid working - 1 day in the London office and 4 days home or site.
  • 37.5 hour working week.
  • Private healthcare.
  • Professional development and training funding.
  • Support towards Chartered status.
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + 5 day annual leave rollover option.
