We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading contractor delivering technically complex, high value construction projects. You will be embedded within project delivery teams, managing budgets, mitigating risks, and providing clear cost advice that directly impacts project outcomes. This is a high-impact role where you will make an immediate difference from day one while working alongside ambitious and supportive colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of cost planning, including preparing accurate estimates, bills of quantities, and project budgets.
- Monitor valuations, cash flow, and financial forecasts to ensure projects remain on budget and risks are identified early.
- Administer contracts including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, and bespoke, ensuring full compliance and advising on change control and dispute resolution.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation to maximise project outcomes.
- Act as a trusted commercial interface for clients, consultants, and subcontractors, providing clear guidance on all cost and contractual matters.
- Mentor and support junior QS and assistant QS colleagues, fostering a culture of accuracy, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Extensive experience in UK contract frameworks and high value construction projects.
- Proven expertise in measurement, valuations, cost reporting, subcontractor management, and commercial decision-making.
- Experience on multi-million-pound projects, ideally with some team leadership exposure.
- Commercially aware, proactive, and solutions focused, thriving in fast-paced delivery environments.
