Associate Building Surveyor

The Role
The position sits within the Building Consultancy team, which provides a full range of Building Surveying services, with a particular focus on Project Management and Contract Administration.
The team has also expanded its Building Safety and Compliance offering, with increasing work across the residential and Higher Risk Building sectors.
As an Associate, you'll be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing your own instructions from initial enquiry through to completion and billing, while also working alongside Directors on larger and more complex projects.
A key part of the role will be developing existing client relationships, generating new business and contributing to the continued growth of the Building Consultancy team.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing Building Surveying instructions from inception through to completion.
- Acting as Project Manager and Contract Administrator on a range of projects.
- Undertaking building surveys, defect investigations and technical reporting.
- Preparing specifications, tender documentation and contract documentation.
- Managing contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
- Providing technical and legal advice to clients where required.
- Working across residential and commercial property.
- Supporting projects within the Higher Risk Building sector.
- Working alongside Directors and senior management on larger and more complex instructions.
- Managing and developing existing client relationships.
- Generating new business opportunities and contributing to fee generation.
- Taking responsibility for your own workload, project delivery and billing.
- Supporting the continued development of the Building Safety and Compliance offering.
- Mentoring and supporting more junior members of the team where appropriate.
There is also the opportunity to develop your experience around the Principal Designer role under CDM Regulations and the Building Regulations, with additional training available.
The Projects
The majority of work is across Greater London, with some projects throughout the South of England and occasional travel further afield.
