Graduate Building Surveyor
London - Up to £45,000 + Benefits
I am currently working with a highly regarded multi-disciplinary property consultancy that is looking to appoint a Graduate Building Surveyor to join its established Building Surveying team in London.
This is a great opportunity for a graduate or early-career Building Surveyor who is looking to gain genuine hands-on experience and develop their career within an established consultancy.
You will work alongside experienced Chartered Building Surveyors, gaining exposure to a broad range of professional and project-based instructions across the commercial, residential, education and industrial sectors.
The Opportunity
From day one, you will be involved in live projects and client instructions, giving you the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge while working towards becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor.
Your experience will include:
- Planned preventative maintenance surveys
- Pre-acquisition building surveys
- Schedules of condition
- Schedules of dilapidations
- Reinstatement cost assessments
- Building, condition and measured surveys
- Contract administration and project management
- Defect diagnosis and technical advice
- Refurbishment and maintenance projects
- Site inspections and construction monitoring
You will work with a varied client base including property owners, developers, contractors, retailers, educational institutions and public sector organisations.
What You'll Be Doing
Working alongside experienced members of the team, you will:
- Assist with building surveys, inspections and the preparation of professional reports.
- Support Contract Administrators with specifications, tender documentation, procurement and site inspections.
- Assist with defect investigations and provide technical advice on building-related issues.
- Support the preparation of schedules of dilapidations and schedules of condition.
- Assist with refurbishment, maintenance and project-based instructions.
- Attend client and contractor meetings and gain exposure to project delivery.
- Support senior surveyors on larger and more complex instructions.
- Develop your understanding of building construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment.
- Work towards developing the technical and professional competencies required to achieve MRICS status.
About You
I am keen to speak with graduates or early-career Building Surveyors who are genuinely interested in developing a long-term career within Building Surveying.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Building Surveying or a RICS-accredited related discipline, ideally with a 2:2 or above.
- A genuine interest in property, construction and the built environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good attention to detail and report-writing ability.
- The ability to organise your workload and manage multiple instructions.
- A willingness to learn and develop alongside experienced surveyors.
- The ambition to work towards becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor.
- Full UK right to work without requiring visa sponsorship.
