About the Role

This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on maintaining mechanical, electrical, and building systems across laboratory and office environments. Our client is a fast‑growing, ambitious science and technology organisation, developing a world‑class campus in Oxford to support breakthrough research and innovation. They're investing heavily into their ever‑expanding research centre and are seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to support the day‑to‑day operation of this complex research estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and building systems
  • Diagnose faults and deliver repairs to plant, equipment, and infrastructure
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with health, safety, and compliance standards
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues
  • Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of systems and equipment
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors, including out‑of‑hours support via an on‑call rota

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Facilities Engineering (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Highly organised, independent, and able to prioritise workload effectively in a fast‑paced environment
