We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical bias to join a fast-growing science and technology organisation in Oxford. The role will support the smooth operation of a complex research campus, including laboratory, office, and specialist technical environments. You will be responsible for maintaining mechanical, electrical, and building systems, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable operation across the estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and building systems
  • Diagnose faults and deliver effective repairs to plant, equipment, and infrastructure
  • Maintain and optimise mechanical systems including HVAC, AHUs, pumps, boilers, and associated building services
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with health, safety, and compliance standards
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues
  • Support installation, commissioning, and modification of systems and equipment
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors
  • Participate in an on-call rota providing out-of-hours emergency support

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Facilities Engineering (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent)
  • Strong mechanical bias with good working knowledge of electrical systems and fault finding
  • Experience in planned and reactive maintenance within building services or similar environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose technical issues efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in laboratories, healthcare, data centres, or other high-spec environments
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Experience working within compliance-led or regulated environments
