Senior Building Surveyor

Highlights: Loc: London, Surrey Or Birmingham, Sal: Up to £75,000 + Benefits, Bonus.

I'm working with a fast-growing and ambitious Building Surveying team that is looking to appoint a Senior or Associate Director Building Surveyor to help shape the next stage of its growth.

This is an opportunity for an established Chartered Building Surveyor who wants more than a purely technical role.

You'll work closely with the Head of Building Surveying, helping to grow the client base, develop the team and have a genuine influence over the direction of the service line.

The team works across prime and super-prime residential, commercial offices, theatres and heritage assets, retail and shopping centres, with the majority of work across London and the South-East.

The projects

The quality and variety of work is a major part of the attraction.

Recent and current projects include Grade II listed residential properties in Central London, large office refurbishments in Surrey, shopping centres, complex heritage assets and super-prime residential developments in Surrey and London.

The wider project portfolio also includes a 23-storey residential development in Portsmouth and the refurbishment of an existing office building in Camberley.

There is also plenty of opportunity to work across different disciplines, with Building Surveyors collaborating with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Bank Monitoring Surveyors and Expert Witnesses on multidisciplinary instructions.

The role

As a senior member of the team, you'll combine technical Building Surveying with client management and business development.

You'll be responsible for

  • Developing new business and building long-term client relationships.
  • Managing and growing key client accounts.
  • Preparing fee proposals and contributing as a major fee earner.
  • Leading projects from instruction through to completion.
  • Delivering professional Building Surveying services across residential and commercial property.
  • Party Wall work and measured/building surveys.
  • Preparing specifications, tender and contract documentation.
  • Contract Administration.
  • Dilapidations and defect analysis.
  • Licences to Alter.
  • Supporting Expert Witness instructions where required.
  • Mentoring junior surveyors and supporting APC candidates.

About you

You'll be MRICS qualified, with around 5–10+ years' post-qualification experience and a strong track record across Building Surveying.

We're looking for someone who is technically strong but also commercially aware and comfortable developing relationships with clients.

You should be someone who wants to win work, develop accounts and help build a team, rather than simply deliver instructions handed to you.

Why consider it?

The attraction is the combination of technical variety, quality of clients and genuine influence.

You'll have the opportunity to work on prestigious and technically complex projects while helping to shape a growing Building Surveying service.

The package includes private healthcare, salary sacrifice pension, electric car scheme, critical illness cover, 25 days' annual leave and life assurance.

If you're a Chartered Building Surveyor looking for a role where you can combine technical challenge, client development and leadership, I'd be interested in speaking with you.
