Renowned for exceptional quality and service, we are the trusted landscaping partner for many of the UK's top housing developers and commercial organisations.
We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve safety standards across our landscaping and operational sites. This is a key role in our business, ensuring we maintain a safe, compliant, and proactive safety culture across depots, client sites, and field operations. This is an on-site role involving a mix of policy development, site-based safety work, administration, training, audits, and incident management. You will take ownership of the company's health, safety and environmental systems, ensuring compliance with UK legislation while embedding a Safe People, Safe Place, Safe Practice culture across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development, Implementation & Reporting
- Develop, review and implement compliant company health & safety policies
- Produce specific risks associated with landscaping and operational activities
- Prepare/present HS&E reports and facilitate budget forecasting
- Risk Management
- Conduct & review risk assessments across all activities and depot infrastructure
- Develop safe systems of work and manage permit-to-work systems
- Produce site-specific RAMS (for contracts and projects)
- Training & Safety Culture
- Deliver and coordinate health & safety training, including toolbox talks & campaign materials
- Promote a proactive safety-first culture through engagement and communication
- Site Inspections & Audits
- Carry out regular inspections across company sites and client sites
- Report findings, recommend improvements, and track actions to completion
- Incident Management
- Lead investigations (accidents, incidents, near-misses etc)
- Identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with RIDDOR and maintain accurate reporting records
- Compliance & External Liaison
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UK H&S legislation and industry standards
- Oversee compliance and maintenance relating to EICR, DSEAR, COSHH, asbestos, fire safety, etc.
- Liaise with HSE, Environment Agency, insurers and contractors as required
- Maintain industry accreditations (e.g. BALI, CHAS, SMAS, Constructionline)
- Equipment, PPE & Facilities
- Oversee maintenance of safety-critical equipment in depots
- Ensure appropriate PPE provision, training, and compliance checks
- Support oversight of soft facilities management
- Continuous Improvement
- Lead Health & Safety Committee meetings
- Monitor trends and safety performance metrics
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Stay current with changes in legislation and best practice
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in a similar H&S role (i.e. landscaping, construction or similar)
- Confident in influencing managers and frontline teams
- Able to challenge unsafe behaviours and coach positively
- Practical, solutions-focused, and confident working in operational environments
- Organised, detail-oriented and proactive
- Skilled in producing clear policies, RAMS, training materials and reports
- A strong communicator at all levels
- Able to attend the main site LE14 3BQ, but travel to other sites on an occasional basis, and be eligible to live and work in the UK.
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:
- NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Membership of a professional body (IOSH, IIRSM or similar)
- Strong knowledge of COSHH and hazardous substances regulations
- Solid understanding of UK health & safety legislation
This is a full-time working 40 hours on-site, between Monday and Friday with the flexibility to work some earlier mornings to support the operations. Occasional travel will be required.
