This is a hands-on, specialist-level position focused on the practical implementation and continuous improvement of EHS standards across Northern UK. You will work closely with operational teams, providing day-to-day EHS support across field service, sales, and business support functions. The role is centered on driving compliance, improving safety culture, and supporting the business through practical, on-the-ground EHS expertise.
As an EHS Specialist, you will:
- Provide practical, day-to-day EHS support and guidance across UK&I service operations, projects, and integration activities.
- Ensure compliance with local legislation, company standards, and contractual requirements.
- Work closely with operational teams to identify risks and implement effective control measures.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and audits, ensuring timely follow-up and closure of actions.
- Support the rollout of EHS initiatives and contribute to the consistent application of EHS standards across sites.
- Promote a strong safety culture by engaging directly with employees and encouraging safe behaviours.
- Participate in and support incident investigations, helping identify root causes and preventative actions.
- Assist in the development and delivery of EHS training and toolbox talks.
- Support the management of subcontractor safety, including prequalification and on-site performance monitoring.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Maintain accurate records within internal EHS reporting systems.
- Support EHS communication through clear, practical, and engaging messaging.
- Assist with EHS certification and compliance processes.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Proven experience in a hands-on Health & Safety role across multiple sites (e.g., depots, service locations, or project sites) within construction, field service, engineering or manufacturing environments.
- Strong working knowledge of UK EHS regulations and standards, particularly within building services, construction, or field-based operations.
- Experience working on-site and directly with operational and depot-based teams, providing practical EHS support.
- A proactive, practical approach with the ability to identify risks across varied environments and implement effective solutions independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple locations.
- Ability to work effectively within a matrix organisation and support diverse teams across different sites.
- Willingness to travel regularly across Northern UK to visit multiple sites and depot locations.
- Full UK driving licence.
