The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.
To assist in the development, coordination, and effective delivery of Carrick YMCA youth club. To contribute to the development and delivery of programmes and activities.Delivery is centred on promotion of active participation by young people, testing of values and beliefs and the exploration of their acceptance and understanding of others.
Responsibilities
- Engage and encourage young people to participate in activities which may include group work
- Build appropriate relationships with young people so that they can cope with everydaylife and feel good about themselves
- Assist young people to express and realise their goals
- Provide information and support to young people (signposting to other services as required)
- Challenge behaviour in keeping with youth club contract, includes being the point of contact home when challenging behaviours have been displayed by young people
- Keep young people safe through the implementation of Carrickfergus YMCA’s policies i.e. equal opportunities, safeguarding, health and safety, etc
- Work flexibly as part of the Youth Club Team, assisting the Programme Coordinator with the motivation, direction and support of volunteers & sessional staff
- Contribute to the development of an activity based youth provision in line with the needs of young people and the current delivery plan
- Assist in the planning and implementation of activities and structures that encourage participation & coproduction
- Contribute to the evaluation and reporting on aspects of programme content and delivery.
- Assist in keeping membership & attendance records using the data management system
- Completion of end of night evaluations and debrief with staff and volunteers
- Monitoring of youth club equipment and updating Programme Coordinator when replacement items are required
- Monitor and control use of YMCA resources as directed by the Programme Coordinator
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs to include English and Maths
- 2 years part time experience of face to face work in a relevant context.
- Knowledge of good youth work practice
- Knowledge, understanding and application of health & safety and safeguarding
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop & maintain appropriate relationships with young people
- Planning and organising skills
- Recognised youth work qualification (E.g. OCN level 2 & 3) or willing to complete training
- Experience in facilitating developmental work with young people and the ability to create, implement & evaluate these activities
- Experience of working in a leadership position with young people in a youth club setting
- Demonstrate innovation, initiative & creativity
- Full driving licence
Further Information
Working Hours:The working week will consist of 6 hours per week, times to be confirmed.The Youth Club responds to the needs of young people, and as a result evening & weekend work will be required. Staffing rotas will be shared well in advance by the Programme Coordinator.Time off in lieu (TOIL) will be negotiated with the Programme Coordinator.Personal Conduct:There is considerable direct contact with young people, parents and the general public in this role, therefore the successful candidate must be able to represent the organisation in a professional manner.
